![]() ![]() ![]() It does not take long, however, for those who attentively study Thomas' texts on the Eucharist and become familiar with them, to realize that the precision of his concepts and the rigour of his analysis not only do not quench his passionate feeling for the Blessed Sacrament but, on the contrary, express it and are a perceptive and eloquent sign of it. Passion for Blessed Sacrament combined with scientific rigour His biographer, William of Tocco, says that before receiving Viaticum in the guest room of the Cistercian Abbey of Fossanuova, where he had arrived exhausted and consumed by the effort of study and teaching, Thomas prayed: "I receive you, price of my soul's redemption, I receive you, Viaticum of my pilgrimage: for love of you I have studied, watched and toiled". Moreover, a very deep devotion to the Body and Blood of Christ was part of the Angelic Doctor's life, which was, as it were, sealed by passionate prayer to the Blessed Sacrament. But Thomas was not only able to set it out masterfully his contemplation of the Eucharist was so intense that it tapped a poetic vein and enabled him to imbue with lyrical tones a dogmatic language so perfect and refined as to produce sequences and hymns that we all know and still sing. The Eucharistic theology of Thomas Aquinas is remarkable for its clarity and perception. I am not sure I would have stayed as cool as her or found a solution as quickly. Add a dog to that (and Morgan Matson did) and you’ve captured my heart as a reader.Ĭharlie is the youngest of the bunch and I feel it shows in some of her reactions, while she was simultaneously mature and great at helping out whenever things went south during the wedding. I will never get tired of reading about messy sibling-dynamics, inside jokes and complicated family relationships. ![]() ![]() Despite the setting of a wedding, I was very happy to see that Save the Date was barely about romance but far more about family. This time she added little comic strips between the main parts of the book and they didn’t just add a really fun element, but also are way more crucial to the plot than you might think. She somehow manages to give her books a similar, summery vibe with adorable and relatable characters, while also giving each story its own spin and different focus. There is something about Morgan Matson books that just always works for me. Keep an eye out for a review on her blog as well! With love stories.Īnd for this taste, there is only one book to blame: Mairelon the Magician by Patricia C. If pressed for more detail, though, we can explain more precisely that we love books about magic set in otherwise normal areas of past history, quite usually the 19th century, and quite usually London or other parts of the British Empire. It's a fault, but it's our fault, and one that we probably will not shed without great effort.įor instance, when we want to define the kind of romances we love reading more than any other, we have to fall back on the term historical fantasy romance because it is pleasantly concise.
